Filming in Scotland: Flying High at Birsay
Flying high at Birsay Cliffs, Orkney
We’re halfway through with the 6th video in the ‘Behind the Photographer’ series, captured during the #QuietLandscapes photography retreat led by Margaret Soraya and Paul Sanders in Orkney.
This particular video features a stunning shot by Jeremy Lintott (@jeremylintottphotos), taken at the dramatic Birsay Cliffs. On this day, we experienced every weather pattern imaginable, including a rainbow shining through a storm. The light was nothing short of magical, and Jeremy’s photo captures the essence of the moment beautifully, with this bird shot.

Why visit Birsay Cliffs, Orkney?
Birsay Cliffs offers an ever-changing canvas of weather, light, and landscapes—perfect for photographers seeking dramatic coastal shots. The cliffs, surrounded by wild seas and vast skies, provide incredible opportunities to capture natural light effects, from stormy moods to peaceful sunsets. It’s also a haven for birdwatchers, with its seabird colonies soaring over the cliffs. This rugged and remote location allows photographers to capture moments that feel untouched by time.
