Breakfast on the Slow…
Social media videos for Dorset Cereals for their “Breakfast on the Slow” health and wellness event, held in London

The Brief

Capturing wellness and mindfulness footage for Dorset Cereals’ “Breakfast on the Slow” event
Dorset Cereals wanted to promote their #BreakfastontheSlow event, a wellness and mindfulness experience, through versatile, lifestyle-focused visuals and videos. They needed content that could be repurposed long after the event, focused on breakfast, mindfulness, and wellness.
Their event was held at Mortimer House, London and the project involved capturing both staged and live footage to reflect the event’s friendly and calm atmosphere. They wanted raw footage of panel discussions, workshops, and guest interactions, alongside lifestyle shots of their breakfast products, all with strong branding visibility for Instagram and other social media platforms.

The Approach
To ensure the project aligned with Dorset Cereals’ brand vision and event goals, we agreed a clear plan that balanced creativity with practical logistics. Here’s how we approached the shoot from concept to delivery
01.
CONSULTATION
Although the Dorset Cereals team’s objectives were relayed through their event managers, Mum’s the Word, it was essential to fully understand the brand’s goals. They wanted footage with lasting appeal and versatility. The brief initially emphasized capturing spontaneous audience reactions during panel discussions but later shifted towards focusing on unedited footage for Dorset Cereals to be able to use and reuse themselves.

02.
PRE-PRODUCTION
I received a detailed call sheet that clearly outlined the specific shots needed throughout the day. With the shot list clearly defined, I prepared to follow the event as it unfolded, ensuring I captured each moment as specified. While much of the content was organic, the structure was carefully planned to meet Dorset Cereals’ needs. I was responsible for capturing all audio via recorders and on-camera sound, without the need for precise positioning in the room. The priority was clear: ensure excellent audio for the panel discussions and other key moments, and secure footage that would be reusable and adaptable for social media.

03.
PRODUCTION
On the day, my primary focus was on capturing the speaker panel and ensuring crystal-clear sound for all discussions and activities, including the guided meditation and sound bath sessions. While staged breakfast shots allowed for subtle branding, the main goal was to capture authentic, reusable footage with minimal interference in the flow of the event. Adapting quickly to the live atmosphere, I ensured that all content reflected Dorset Cereals’ wellness ethos while also maintaining strong visual and audio quality.

04.
POST-PRODUCTION
In post-production, I delivered the raw, unedited footage of the event as requested via a hard drive. For the more polished deliverables, I selected the clips that resonated most with their brand and edited all the different social media videos, including their branding logos and slides. Dorset Cereals and Mum’s The Word then reviewed these videos and I made changes as requested before delivering the final videos, that clearly portrayed Dorset Cereals’ ethos of slow living and enjoying their breakfast products.

The Outcome
The final results included a wide range of content that Dorset Cereals could share across platforms.
From visually engaging breakfast table shots to the calming guided meditation video, the deliverables captured the essence of their brand—wellness, mindfulness, and slow living.
Client feedback was positive, with specific praise for the flexibility of the content and the aesthetic quality of the breakfast shots. The shots and videos were used on their social media platforms to increase engagement, and the timeless nature of the content will allow them to continue promoting their brand for months or years to come.

The kitchen was arranged to show a selection of their nut butters in a ‘natural’ environment for filming and photographing on the day of the shoot

In addition to high resolution photographs of Kape’s product range I also supplied them with stills from the video footage. These were edited in post-production to colour match to give a consistent look to all the images provided to the customer.
Future proofing for social media…
Social media is constantly changing, which is why Dorset Cereals wanted ‘raw’ footage in horizontal formats.
Instagram and Tiktok are constantly standing still, so any proprietary format in vertical are likely to date quickly. I shot everything in horizontal so it could be used on YouTube for longer form videos and also repurposed for square and vertical videos and also for their video library. If this is something that you need, please get in touch, as I’d love to work with you.
